This version of The Grant Application Writer's Workbook - NIH is applicable to writing and submitting research grant proposals to NIH through the Fall, 2009 deadlines. Thereafter, a new, shortened application format will be required (see The Grant Application Writer's Workbook - NIH: Shortened, 2010 Format).
This version of the Workbook emphasizes principles and fundamentals of good proposal writing, together with tips and strategies that kept its authors continuously funded throughout their research careers. The Workbook is interactive in the sense that examples of each part of the proposal are provided, after which the reader is asked to make a comparable response in his/her area of research interest. As such responses are made, the first draft of the application falls into place. The new Workbook's contents can be sampled by clicking on the 'open-book' icons at the right.
A disk accompanies the Workbook, which allows the applicant to: (i) set up a writing schedule, and (ii) create a bullet outline for what we consider to be the template or master plan for the rest of the Research Plan.
